Kingsbury fiscal Q2 profit climbs YOY

Kingsbury PLC said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 came to 23 Sri Lankan cents per share, an increase from 8 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 56.4 million rupees, an increase from 16.7 million rupees in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 9.2% from 3.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 9.8% on an annual basis to 613.7 million rupees from 559.1 million rupees, and total operating expenses grew 8.0% year over year to 494.4 million rupees from 457.6 million rupees.

Reported net income rose from the prior-year period to 89.4 million rupees, or 37 cents per share, from 26.7 million rupees, or 12 cents per share.

As of Nov. 14, US$1 was equivalent to 131 Sri Lankan rupees.
