SEC suspends trading in 2 cryptocurrency-related investment products

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission suspended trading in Bitcoin Tracker One and Ether Tracker One due to the "lack of current, consistent and accurate information" on the products.

In its order, the SEC said broker/dealer materials submitted to them and certain trading websites have characterized the two financial products as exchange-traded funds, while other public sources characterized them as exchange-traded notes. Meanwhile, the issuer, Swedish company XBT Provider AB, characterized them as nonequity linked certificates.

The suspension will last through 11:59 p.m. ET on Sept. 20.
