Two Chevron Corp. executives that were arrested in Venezuela have been released, Reuters reported June 6.
Carlos Algarra and Rene Vasquez were arrested April 16 when Venezuelan Sebin intelligence agents raided the Petropiar joint venture's office in Puerto La Cruz.
A source close to Chevron confirmed the release, saying the two Venezuelans had to report to authorities every 15 days. In addition, the state prosecutor's office said in an email to Reuters that both had been given unspecified alternative conditions to jail.
However, the company has yet to officially release a statement acknowledging the release of its employees.
