French officials remain undecided on privatization of airport operator

The French government said that it has yet to decide whether to privatize Aéroports de Paris SA, or Groupe ADP, which it considers as a "strategic asset," Reuters reported.

Transport Minister Élisabeth Borne told LCI television that the government is considering the sale of some state-owned holdings, the proceeds of which will be used to finance innovation. "What is important is that ADP is a strategic asset as it connects France to the rest of the planet," she said adding that such a transaction would require legislative action.

The state has a 50.6% stake in the airport operator. Construction company VINCI SA has expressed willingness to increase its stake in Groupe ADP if the government decides to sell all or part of its holding, Reuters said.

Groupe ADP had earlier signed an agreement to acquire a 49% stake in joint venture ICF Antalya, the operator of Antalya International Airport in Turkey.
