Sibanye Gold Ltd.'s gold operations in South Africa produced 43,600 kilograms in 2017, beating the year's guidance of between 42,000 and 43,000 kilograms, the company said in a Feb. 4 update.
All-in sustaining costs for the gold operations are expected at about 483,000 South African rand per kilogram, lower than the guidance of between 485,000 rand per kilogram and 495,000 rand per kilogram due to an increase in production in the second half. The total capital expenditure for the year was 3.4 billion rand.
At the platinum group metals operations in South Africa, the company produced 1.19 million equivalent ounces, beating the guidance of 1.15 million equivalent ounces by 4%.
All-in sustaining costs are expected to be about 10,300 rand per equivalent ounce, lower compared to the guidance of between 10,500 rand per equivalent ounce and 11,000 rand per equivalent ounce. The total attributable capital expenditure for the year was 1.3 billion rand.
Sibanye's U.S.-based platinum group metals operations produced 376,300 equivalent ounces during the eight-month period ended Dec. 31, 2017, in line with guidance of between 350,000 and 380,000 equivalent ounces.
All-in sustaining costs for the eight months totaled about US$650 per equivalent ounce, in line with guidance of between US$620 per equivalent ounce and US$650 per equivalent ounce. Total capital expenditure for the eight-month period was US$124 million.
