Aptiv partners with Affectiva for in-cabin sensors, safety solutions

Auto parts retailer Aptiv PLC said Jan. 3 that it signed a commercial partnership with artificial intelligence lab AffectivaInc.

Aptiv will work with the human perception AI lab to deliver scalable software that provides intelligent sensors inside cabins. To support the partnership, Aptiv made a minority investment in Affectiva.

The sensors will use Affectiva's patented interior sensing to identify the cognitive states of vehicle occupants.

In July 2018, Aptiv agreed to acquire Winchester Interconnect, which provides connectors to the oil and gas industry, for $650 million.
