Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter amounted to NT$2.71 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of NT$3.72 per share.
EPS rose 40.6% year over year from NT$1.93.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was NT$70.19 billion, an increase of 40.6% from NT$49.93 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 26.8% from 24.5% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 28.8% on an annual basis to NT$262.23 billion from NT$203.52 billion, and total operating expenses climbed 21.0% on an annual basis to NT$152.16 billion from NT$125.73 billion.
Reported net income increased 44.6% from the prior-year period to NT$100.09 billion, or NT$3.86 per share, from NT$69.23 billion, or NT$2.67 per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled NT$9.37 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of NT$12.74.
EPS rose from NT$7.91 in the prior year.
Normalized net income was NT$242.89 billion, a rise from NT$205.21 billion in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue rose year over year to NT$947.94 billion from NT$843.50 billion, and total operating expenses increased year over year to NT$567.53 billion from NT$521.71 billion.
The company said reported net income increased year over year to NT$334.24 billion, or NT$12.89 per share, in the full year, from NT$302.87 billion, or NT$11.68 per share.
As of Feb. 16, US$1 was equivalent to NT$30.79.
