Carnegie Mellon University inks contracts to buy energy from Illinois wind farm

Carnegie Mellon University agreed to buy energy from the E.ON SE-owned Radford's Run wind farm in Macon County, Ill., to serve the electricity needs of its Pittsburgh campus.

Engie Resources Inc. and consulting firm Amerex Energy Services LLC designed the structure to allow the university to enter into multiyear agreements through 2024 to procure energy from the wind farm. The university also signed a separate agreement to secure renewable energy credits to match its energy usage, according to a Sept. 30 news release.

Electricity supplier Engie Resources, a subsidiary of Engie North America Inc., is part of Engie SA.
