New requests for proposals
* FirstEnergy Corp. is holding an auction to procure full requirements default supply generation service for default customers of its Pennsylvania utilities. The deadline for submitting prospective bids is Sept. 24.
* The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection issued a request for proposals for up to 2,000 MW of offshore wind power, as required by a newly enacted law mandating that capacity procurement by 2030. Bids are due by noon Sept. 30.
* The Grand River Dam Authority issued a request for proposals to purchase up to 200 MW of energy, capacity and environmental resources from new or existing solar or wind facilities, which may also include battery storage. Interested parties must submit their proposals by 2 p.m. CT on Sept. 30.
* The Maine Public Utilities Commission issued a request for proposals for retail electricity standard offer service for all customer classes in the service territories of Emera Inc.'s utilities in Maine. Initial proposals are due Oct. 3.
* Arizona Public Service Co. issued two requests for proposals seeking 150 MW of solar and 250 MW of wind projects. The Pinnacle West Capital Corp. subsidiary said interested parties can register for the wind request for proposals until Oct. 11 and the solar request for proposals until Oct. 16.
* Three utility subsidiaries of Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. — known collectively as the Hawaiian Electric Cos. — issued
* Consolidated Edison Inc. subsidiaries Consolidated Edison Co. of New York Inc. and Orange and Rockland Utilities Inc. are seeking financial or physical capacity at up to 800 MW delivered to the New York ISO.
* Maryland utilities are seeking proposals for the supply of 4,340 MW of wholesale electric power to meet their standard offer service obligations in their service territories.
Update
* Massachusetts published proposals submitted by offshore wind developers Bay State Wind LLC, Mayflower Wind Energy LLC and Vineyard Wind LLC to the state's second offshore wind request for proposals for up to 800 MW.
Award
* The Transmission Capital Partners consortium was selected as the preferred bidder for the long-term license and operation of the transmission cable connection to the Rampion offshore wind farm in the U.K.
Looking forward
* An administrative law judge with the California Public Utilities Commission proposed to require Edison International subsidiary Southern California Edison Co. and other electric service providers on that utility's transmission system to solicit 2,500 MW of generation capacity to address potential power shortages beginning in 2021.
