Sumitomo Mitsui Financial nominates new directors

Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. nominated several new members to its board of directors, including Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp. President Makoto Takashima.

The company said June 2 that it named Toshikazu Yaku, Toshiyuki Teramoto and Toru Mikami as directors. Yaku is a senior managing executive officer at the group, while Teramoto and Mikami are standing corporate auditors.

Meanwhile, Masayuki Matsumoto, Shozo Yamazaki, Yoshinobu Tsutsui and Katsuyoshi Shinbo were nominated as outside and independent directors. Matsumoto is a director at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking, while Yamazaki is an accounting professor. Tsutsui is president of Nippon Life Insurance Co. and Shinbo is a corporate auditor of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking.

The nominations are subject to shareholders' approval.
