Va. regulators delay air permit for Atlantic Coast pipeline compressor station

Environmental regulators in Virginia postponed their decision on whether to grant Atlantic Coast Pipeline LLC an air permit for the 1.5-Bcf/d natural gas pipeline project's Buckingham compressor station.

The state Air Pollution Control Board on Nov. 9 decided to delay its final decision after hearing presentations from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality, or DEQ, and project developer Dominion Energy Inc. The board also received public comments.

The postponement is to allow the board more time to evaluate the information received from the project stakeholders, according to DEQ Director David Paylor. The board will resume discussions Dec. 10.

The Atlantic Coast pipeline would deliver Appalachian gas through West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina to mid-Atlantic and Southern markets.
