International Market Centers to merge with AmericasMart

International Market Centers Inc. and AmericasMart Atlanta agreed to merge to create what they said is the biggest owner and operator of premier showroom space in the world.

Financial terms of the deal, slated to close in the third quarter, were not made public.

The combined entity will operate as International Market Centers, and will own and operate close to 20 million square feet of permanent showroom space in Las Vegas; High Point, N.C.; and Atlanta.

International Market Centers CEO Robert Maricich will become CEO of the merged entity, while Jeff Portman will be an adviser to the company's board.

Blackstone Real Estate Partners and Blackstone Tactical Opportunities, which are affiliates of private equity giant Blackstone Group LP, purchased International Market Centers in partnership with Fireside Investments Inc. in 2017.
