Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. will lift force majeure over copper concentrate supplies from the Oyu Tolgoi mine in Mongolia, effective March 1.
The company on Jan. 17 declared force majeure after a protest by Chinese coal transporters obstructed the main access road in China to the Chinese-Mongolian border.
Turquoise Hill maintained normal mine operations during the period and does not expect any impact on production. Meanwhile, any force majeure-related sales impact will be made up over the next few quarters, it said Feb. 28.
The blockade ended Jan. 19, but due to congestion at the border a waiting period was required for border traffic to return to pre-blockade levels.
