Eurozone annual inflation confirmed at 1.5% in February

Annual inflation in the eurozone reached 1.5% in February, up from 1.4% in January and in line with Eurostat's flash estimate.

Energy prices rose at an annual rate of 3.6% in February, up from 2.7% in the previous month, while services prices rose at a 1.4% rate, slowing from the prior month's 1.6%.

Food, alcohol and tobacco prices edged up 2.3% from the same month a year ago, following a 1.8% year-over-year rise in January.

Core inflation, which excludes energy and food, alcohol and tobacco, came in at 1.0% in February, easing from 1.1% in the prior month.

Within the bloc, annual inflation in Germany remained unchanged at 1.7% during February, while it rose to 1.6% in France from 1.4% in the prior month.

The monthly rate of inflation came in at 0.3% in February.
