Insurance moves through Feb. 1

Feb. 1

Citizens Inc. added Terry Festervand as COO. Festervand most recently was senior vice president of accounting operations at American International Group Inc.'s AIG Life and Retirement.


John Gauthier left his position as executive vice president and chief investment officer of Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings AG.


Canal Insurance Co. named Paul Brocklebank COO and Laura Beth Medley vice president of human resources.


Tracey Berg joined Employers Holdings Inc. as executive vice president and chief information officer.


Chubb Ltd. appointed Sean Ringsted executive vice president and chief digital officer. Ringsted will continue in his position as chief risk officer. Paul O'Connell was promoted to senior vice president and chief actuary.


Jacob Ingerslev was hired as Navigators Group Inc.'s global practice leader for cyber liability.


IHC Specialty Benefits Inc. brought on board Daniel Cottrell as senior vice president of national accounts. Cottrell most recently served as vice president for Cigna Corp.'s Cigna Payer Solutions.

IHC Specialty Benefits is the specialty health marketing and distribution arm of The IHC Group, an insurance organization composed of Independence Holding Co. and its operating subsidiaries.


Bill Austin was promoted to president of the northeast region at NFP Corp.


Willis Towers Watson Plc tapped Ken Ross as head of its FINEX North America business, the company's management liability specialty group, part of its corporate risk and broking segment.

Virgil Williams will serve as market leader for Willis Towers Watson's health and benefits business in Florida.

Horace Mann Educators Corp. CFO Dwayne Hallman took a medical leave of absence following a "severe medical incident." Bret Conklin was tapped as acting CFO.


Doug Ommen was named insurance commissioner of Iowa.


Liberty Mutual Insurance appointed Tyler Asher president of Safeco Insurance. Asher succeeds Matthew Nickerson, who was named executive vice president and COO of Liberty Mutual Insurance's global consumer markets East region.


Recent appointments at Cincinnati Financial Corp. include the promotion of Sean Givler to senior vice president for sales and marketing for Cincinnati Insurance Co., Cincinnati Casualty Co., Cincinnati Indemnity Co. and Cincinnati Life Insurance Co.

Jan. 27

Cheryl Gardner was named CEO of beWellnm, New Mexico's health insurance exchange, Albuquerque (N.M.) Business First reported. Gardner will take over from Linda Wedeen, beWellnm's senior communications and marketing director, who served as interim CEO.


Venbrook Group LLC tapped Lou Levinson as president of Venbrook Specialty Services. Levinson worked most recently as president of IFG Cos.'s wholesale insurance group.

Jan. 26

Delta Dental of California and its affiliates hired Kenneth Yale as senior vice president and chief clinical officer. Yale most recently served as vice president, medical director and senior counsel at Aetna Inc. unit ActiveHealth Management.


Marty Fleischman joined OneAmerica as vice president of institutional investment products. Fleischman previously worked as vice president of product management for the retirement plans division at Mutual of Omaha Insurance Co.


Eduardo Hussey was appointed chief underwriting officer of Latin America and Caribbean to lead AXIS Capital Holdings Ltd.'s newly formed unit, AXIS Specialty Underwriters Inc. Hussey is a former Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. executive.


Liberty Mutual Insurance named Mark Erickson regional vice president for the central region of Liberty Mutual Benefits.


Brian Chen was added as vice president of research and analytics to lead GWG Holdings Inc.'s initiative to measure and predict the human lifespan.
