United Co. Rusal Plc 's aluminum production increased 1.4% quarter over quarter to 944,000 tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2017, it said Feb. 5, while alumina and bauxite production improved 1.3% and 7.4%, respectively, to 1.99 million tonnes and 2.95 million tonnes.
Nepheline production, however, dropped 7.4% on a quarterly basis to 1.04 million tonnes, while aluminum foil and packaging products registered a 2.1% increase to 26,100 tonnes.
Rusal added that aluminum sales rose 3.3% quarter over quarter to about 1.00 million tonnes, with realized prices increasing by 6.5% to US$2,263 per tonne.
For full-year 2017, the company's aluminum output increased slightly by 0.6% year over year to 3.71 million tonnes, alumina output grew 3.3% to 7.77 million tonnes, and bauxite production slid 4.4% to 11.65 million tonnes.
Output of aluminum foil and packaging products rose by 18.9% to 100,700 tonnes, while nepheline production declined by 2.3% year over year to 4.33 million tonnes in 2017.
Group aluminum sales in the full year climbed 3.6% year over year to 3.96 million tonnes, with realized prices increasing 21.5% to US$2,105 per tonne.
