Intesa Sanpaolo files for merger by incorporation with Mediocredito Italiano

Italy's Intesa Sanpaolo SpA filed for a merger by incorporation with its unit Mediocredito Italiano SpA Aug. 2, following approval from the European Central Bank.

The Italian lender said its board will approve the merger without prejudice and shareholders will be asked to resolve upon the matter at an extraordinary meeting.
