Pfizer CEO's 2017 compensation 313x as much as median employee

Pfizer Inc. Chairman and CEO Ian Read's total compensation in 2017 was 313 times as much as the company's median employee, according to a regulatory filing.

Read received about $27.9 million in annual compensation, compared to the median employee's $89,206.

Additionally, Pfizer said a 223:1 CEO pay ratio "reflects a more representative comparison," as it compares the CEO's regular annual pay to the pay of the median employee. The supplemental pay ratio excludes the $8 million incentive award Pfizer granted Read in 2017.
