Top banking moves: KeyCorp HR chief retiring; CIT Group appoints risk chief

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a weekly news summary of executive management and board chair-level changes in the bank and thrift industry.

David Gavrin stepped down as chairman of New York-based Metropolitan Bank Holding Corp. He will remain a member of the board.

William Reinhardt, a senior director with Alvarez & Marsal Financial Industry Advisory Services, stepped into Gavrin's vacated chairman role.

David Heintzman is retiring as CEO of Louisville, Ky.-based Stock Yards Bancorp Inc., effective Oct. 1.

Heintzman will serve as executive chairman through the end of 2018 and will continue as chairman after that.

James Hillebrand, president of Stock Yards Bancorp and unit Stock Yards Bank & Trust Co., will become CEO.

Philip Poindexter, executive vice president and chief lending officer of Stock Yards Bancorp, will then replace Hillebrand as president, also effective Oct. 1.

Webster City, Iowa-based WCF Bancorp Inc. Chairman Harold Pursley and President and CEO Stephen Mourlam both announced their plans to retire.

Pursley's retirement will take effect Sept. 30. Thomas Hromatka will become chairman, effective May 24.

Mourlam's retirement will take effect Jan. 1, 2019. He will remain a member of the company's board of directors.

CIT Group Inc. named Wahida Plummer chief risk officer.

The New York-based company also promoted credit chief Marisa Harney to an expanded role leading all credit risk.

Plummer succeeds Robert Rowe, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. Harney has been with the company since 2016.

John Ventulett Jr. has retired as chairman of Albany, Ga.-based Community Capital Bancshares Inc. and unit AB&T.

Ventulett was appointed chairman in June 2017. He is an independent insurance agent and businessman.

James Grubbs has resigned as executive vice president and chief commercial banking officer of United Bank & Capital Trust Co.

The Frankfort, Ky.-based bank is a unit of Farmers Capital Bank Corp.

Craig Buffie, chief human resources officer of Cleveland-based KeyCorp is retiring in the second half of the year.

Buffie will be succeeded by Brian Fishel, the company's chief talent officer.

Chandler Howard, president and CEO of Middletown, Conn.-based Liberty Bank, is retiring by the end of 2018, the Connecticut Post reported.

Howard has been leading the bank since 2007.

Peoples State Bank appointed Chuck Winegarden chief credit officer.

The Wausau, Wis.-based bank is a unit of PSB Holdings Inc.

Chadwick Hammond, who is senior vice president and CFO of Pembroke, N.C.-based Lumbee Guaranty Bank, is resigning, effective June 15.
