WPX Energy acquires acreage in Permian Basin for $100M

WPX Energy Inc. subsidiary WPX Energy Permian LLC closed an acquisition of acreage in the Permian Basin of Texas from land and resource management firm Texas Pacific Land Trust for $100 million.

The deal includes about 14,000 surface acres of land in Loving and Reeves counties in Texas, according to a Jan. 8 SEC filing. The sale does not include mineral or royalty interest in the lands, and Texas Pacific also kept certain usage, disposal and water rights in about 1,290 acres of the land included in the deal.

WPX Energy is an oil and gas exploration and production company with operations in the Delaware Basin of Texas and New Mexico, the Williston Basin of North Dakota, and the San Juan Basin of New Mexico and Colorado.
