CVS Health Corp. said March 6 that its medication disposal program will now include CVS Pharmacy stores in Rhode Island, as part of the company's ongoing efforts to combat opioid abuse.
The pharmacy chain will install 14 of its drug disposal units at stores around the state. This is in addition to 14 units that CVS donated to police departments in Rhode Island.
CVS started expanding its program for the safe disposal of medications in September 2017 in response to rising opioid abuse in the U.S. It now covers 750 CVS Pharmacy stores across the U.S.
