HCA Healthcare Inc. and private equity firm KKR & Co. LP are teaming up to bid for Envision Healthcare Corp., Reuters reported, citing anonymous sources.
Reuters reported that the hospital operator plans to take over Envision Healthcare's AmSurg ambulatory surgery business, and KKR will acquire the rest of the company.
The Nashville-based U.S. physician services provider has asked possible acquirers to submit their final offers later in May, according to Reuters.
Other private equity firms interested in the company include a consortium of Carlyle Group LP and TPG Global.
Envision and HCA did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment, while KKR, Carlyle and TPG declined to comment.
In March, Envision sold its ambulatory services unit, American Medical Response, to an entity affiliated with KKR. During the same month, UnitedHealth Group Inc. abandoned its bid for Envision Healthcare after the latter filed a lawsuit against the U.S. health insurer.
