IHS Markit board authorizes $2.5B buyback program

IHS Markit Ltd.'s board authorized the company to repurchase up to $2.5 billion of its outstanding common stock.

The program is set to expire Nov. 30, 2021. Repurchases may be made from time to time on the open market or through privately negotiated transactions.

The company's existing share repurchase program, which had $506.9 million remaining to repurchase, was terminated Oct. 17. It was set for termination on Nov. 30.

In addition, IHS Markit's board approved the initiation of a cash dividend, starting with the first quarter of 2020.
