Hanover considering sale of international specialty unit Chaucer

Hanover Insurance Group Inc. said it is considering a possible sale of its international specialty insurance business, Chaucer.

Without providing details, the company said it is exploring strategic alternatives for Chaucer. The company has retained Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC to serve as its adviser through the process.

For the year ended Dec. 31, 2017, the Chaucer segment booked net premiums written of $849.1 million and had a combined ratio of 105.3%.
