Sainsbury's proposes 7.6% increase in final dividend

J Sainsbury PLC proposed a final dividend of 7.1 pence per share, up 7.6% from the final dividend of 6.6 pence per share in the same period a year ago.

The U.K. grocer's proposed full-year dividend will be 10.2 pence per share, the same as its full-year dividend last year.

The proposed increase came after Sainsbury's announced that it would merge with Walmart Inc.'s U.K. arm Asda Stores Ltd. for £2.98 billion.
