Apax Partners considering launch of regional private equity fund in India

Apax Partners LLP could raise a regional fund targeting companies in India, Private Equity News reported, citing Chief Investment Officer Nico Hansen.

The London-based private equity firm is looking to expand its presence in India over the next five years, given opportunities for growth in that country, Hansen said at a Jan. 15 conference in London. Hansen believes India offers an attractive investment opportunity because of its robust economic growth rate, according to the report.

Funds managed by Apax recently agreed to invest US$200 million in Fractal Analytics Inc., an India-based provider of artificial intelligence and analytics services.
