First Cobalt secures 50% JV option on Cobalt One's Canadian refinery

First Cobalt Corp. said June 1 that it secured a 50% joint venture option from ASX-listed Cobalt One Ltd. for the latter's Yukon cobalt extraction refinery in Ontario.

Under the deal, First Cobalt will immediately pay C$750,000 to Cobalt One to exercise the option by Dec. 31. Upon exercising the option, First Cobalt will have to pay an additional C$2.3 million and an equivalent of 50 million shares of Cobalt One in either cash or shares.

The agreement provides First Cobalt with access to a refinery for its nearby flagship Keeley-Frontier cobalt mine, as well as 40 acres of permitted property capable of processing the silver-cobalt arsenide concentrates historically produced in the Cobalt mining camp.
