Arizona Public Service launching new rooftop solar program

Arizona Public Service Co. on Sept. 4 said it is offering a new rooftop solar program for its residential customers with limited to moderate income.

The APS Solar Communities program will allow the installation of 4 kW to 8 kW solar systems on single-family houses with roofs facing west and southwest, according to a company news release.

Qualified participants will receive $30 in monthly bill credits, or $360 per year, for 20 years from the Pinnacle West Capital Corp. subsidiary.

"With an investment of $10 million to $15 million per year for the next three years, we look forward to seeing some of our customers, who otherwise wouldn't have access to solar, receive the benefits of renewable energy," said APS Director of Customer Technology Marc Romito.

Arizona-based solar installers Arizona Solar Concepts, Discover Energy Solutions, Harmon Solar, Sunny Energy and Southface Solar will install the rooftop systems on the qualifying residences, while Arizona Public Service will maintain the systems.
