Nuclear update: US output steady as FitzPatrick, Limerick 2 ramp up

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability nudged higher early May 22 to 92.69%, up from 92.60% on May 21 and still holding above the 83.89% reported on the same day a year ago.

Providing a small boost to U.S. output was increased generation at two of Exelon Corp.'s reactors. The James A FitzPatrick plant in New York was pegged at 92% early May 22, up from 74% on May 21, and Limerick 2 in Pennsylvania was at full power early May 22, rising from 90% on May 21.

On the other hand, Public Service Enterprise Group Inc.'s Hope Creek 1 in New Jersey saw production fall from 98% on May 21 to 83% early May 22. In addition, Riverstone Holdings LLC's Susquehanna 1 in Pennsylvania saw output curtailed from 96% on May 21 to 85% early May 22.

As of early May 22, a total of four nuclear units remain offline.
