Tanzanian gold mine collapse traps at least 13, rescue ops underway

Rescue operations are underway to recover at least 13 workers trapped underground after a gold mine collapsed in Tanzania's northeast region, the Associated Press reported Jan. 26, citing a police official.

A large mound of earth collapsed Jan. 26 at the site in Nyarugusu village that is part of Chinese firm RZP, a police commander said.

"The team hasn't managed to pull out a body," the official added.
