Electronic tools and devices manufacturer AMETEK Inc. agreed to acquire Gatan Inc., a subsidiary of Roper Technologies Inc., for $925 million in cash.
Gatan would be part of Ametek's electronic instruments group following the deal. Pleasanton, Calif.-based Gatan makes instruments and software for electron microscopy.
Ametek expects the transaction to close in the fourth quarter, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
In June, Roper's proposed sale of Gatan to Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. for $925 million terminated due to challenges in obtaining regulatory approval in the U.K.
