Denso to launch frozen food delivery pilot in Indonesia

Denso Corp. said Sept. 30 that it will test a refrigerated food delivery service in Indonesia through a partnership with financial technology startup Global Mobility Service Inc., or GMS.

Denso will equip small refrigerated trucks with freezers to bring fresh and frozen food to customers. Denso and GMS will then use the trial to study the needs for refrigerated transportation services in Indonesia and to examine drivers' revenue from delivering items.

The delivery job will be open to those who lack the income to take out a loan for a truck.

The companies aim to operate the service using GMS' loan repayments system, which allows fleet managers to manage vehicles remotely. The technology uses an internet of things device and mobility service platform to let managers prevent trucks' engines from starting if drivers miss their loan payments.
