Missouri-based OakStar Bank strikes deal with smaller, in-state peer

In Missouri, Springfield-based OakStar Bank and Camdenton-based First National Bank have agreed to merge, the Buffalo (Mo.) Reflex reported Feb. 21.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed in the report.

SNL valuations for bank and thrift targets in the Midwest region between Feb. 21, 2017, and Feb. 21, 2018, averaged 156.93% of book, 162.45% of tangible book and had a median of 19.45x last-12-months earnings, on an aggregate basis.

The deal is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in April.

OakStar Bancshares will expand in Camden County, Mo., by five branches to be ranked second with a share of 17.20% of approximately $1.05 billion in total market deposits.

SNL data shows that OakStar Bank, a unit of OakStar Bancshares Inc., had $715.0 million in assets as of the end of 2017. First National Bank, a unit of First National Bancshares Inc., had assets of $194.2 million.
