SK Telecom backs cryptography services provider

SK Telecom Co. Ltd. will back ID Quantique SA, a Switzerland-based cryptography services provider, with an investment of 70 billion South Korean won.

Also, ID Quantique and the South Korean mobile operator, in parallel, will team up to expand the company's core quantum photonics technologies and provide services for high potential industrial markets, according to a Feb. 26 news release.

The company has previously invested 2.5 billion won and co-developed the Quantum Random Number Generator chip with the Swiss company.

As of Feb. 23, US$1 was equivalent to 1,077.56 South Korean won.
