Key Capture Energy completes 20-MW NY battery storage project

Key Capture Energy LLC has completed a 20-MW battery storage project in Saratoga County, N.Y.

The KCE NY1 battery storage project supports Gov. Andrew Cuomo's goal of having 3,000 MW of energy storage resources in operation by 2030. The project received $1.3 million from New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, or NYSERDA, under the bulk storage incentive program.

In March, NYSERDA proposed to spend about $350 million from 2019 through 2025 on incentivizing the deployment of battery storage across the state and about $44 million to help administer and facilitate the program.
