Build-A-Bear Workshop Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended July 2 was a loss of 25 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of a loss of 29 cents per share.
The per-share loss increased year over year from 2 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of $3.9 million, compared with a loss of $273,750 in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin fell to negative 5.2% from negative 0.3% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue fell 7.3% year over year to $75.1 million from $81.0 million, and total operating expenses came to $81.4 million, compared with $81.5 million in the prior-year period.
Reported net income totaled a loss of $4.3 million, or a loss of 28 cents per share, compared to a loss of $674,460, or a loss of 4 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
