BBVA Banco Continental SA has changed its name to Banco BBVA Peru as part of parent company Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA's global brand unification initiative, according to a filing.
The Peruvian unit's abbreviated name will be BBVA, in line with the Spanish parent's new global name.
In April, Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria announced it will consolidate its brand under one name and launch a new logo across its footprint. The company said it will no longer use its local names of Francés in Argentina, Bancomer in Mexico, Continental in Peru, and Compass in the United States.
