American Transmission energizes 138-kV transmission line in Wisconsin

American Transmission Co. LLC energized the 138-kV Spring Valley-North Lake Geneva transmission line.

The $71 million project was announced in January 2013 and was granted approval by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin in March 2016.

Construction of the transmission line started in 2017. It helps provide system redundancy, the company said.

The 23-mile transmission line runs from the North Lake Geneva substation in southern Walworth County, Wis., to the Spring Valley substation in western Kenosha County, Wis. The project also involved building the new Balsam substation along High Wisconsin State Trunk Highway 50 in the town of Wheatland and building a new 69-kV line that connects the new substation to the Twin Lakes substation in Twin Lakes.
