ANA Holdings fiscal Q1 loss narrows YOY

All Nippon Airways Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended June 30 amounted to a loss of ¥6.87 per share, compared with a loss of ¥16.73 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥2.40 billion, compared with a loss of ¥5.87 billion in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin rose to negative 0.6% from negative 1.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 8.0% year over year to ¥386.83 billion from ¥358.34 billion, and total operating expenses grew 5.6% on an annual basis to ¥386.48 billion from ¥366.00 billion.

Reported net income came to ¥3.49 billion, or ¥10.00 per share, compared with a loss of ¥6.64 billion, or a loss of ¥18.92 per share, in the prior-year period.

As of Aug. 12, US$1 was equivalent to ¥102.19.
