Mozilla Corp. CEO Chris Beard is stepping down by the end of the year, the executive announced in an Aug. 29 blog post.
The company has begun its search for Beard's replacement.
Beard intends to serve as CEO through the transition process with the new head, but notes that Chairperson Mitchell Baker may step in as interim CEO if a replacement is not found by the end of the year.
Beard will remain as an adviser to Baker and the company's board for the long term.
