Nuclear update: Hatch 2 curtailed, River Bend 1 rebounds

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability slipped early Feb. 15 to 96.58%, down from 96.90% on Feb. 14 but still above the 92.91% reported on the same day a year ago.

Working to cut U.S. production was a curtailment at Southern Co.'s Hatch 2 in Georgia. The unit was operating at 39% early Feb. 15, down from 100% on Feb. 14.

On the other hand, Entergy Corp.'s River Bend 1 in Louisiana saw production rise from 65% on Feb. 14 to 90% early Feb. 15.

As of early Feb. 15, Southern's Hatch 1 in Georgia and PG&E Corp.'s Diablo Canyon 2 in California remain offline.
