Zimbabwe denies US claim of forced labor in Marange diamonds production

The Zimbabwe government denied the United States' claim that the Southern African country is using forced labor in producing diamonds in the Marange fields, Bloomberg reported Oct. 1, quoting spokesperson Nick Mangwana.

The U.S. Customs and Border protection blocked the imported diamonds from Zimbabwe due to the alleged forced labor involved in it.

"As a government, we have a very strong revulsion towards any form of slavery or servitude. To even suggest that Zimbabwe has some form of corporate forced labor is either mischievous or simply ignorant," Mangwana said in a text message to Bloomberg.
