Myriad Genetics Inc. received a subpoena from the Department of Health and Human Services as part of an investigation into possible submission of false or otherwise improper claims under Medicare and Medicaid.
The subpoena from the department's Office of Inspector General requested documents relating mainly to the company's billing to federal programs for its hereditary cancer testing.
The Salt Lake City, Utah-based molecular diagnostic company said the subpoena covers the time period of Jan. 1, 2014, through the date of issuance of the subpoena.
Myriad Genetics said it was cooperating with the government's request and is in the process of responding to the subpoena, adding that no claims have been made against the company currently.
