Jaguar Mining Inc.'s total measured and indicated resources at its Turmalina gold complex in Brazil increased 22% to 540,000 ounces of gold grading 4.93 g/t of gold contained in 3.4 million tonnes, as of Dec. 31, 2016, compared to the end of 2015. This follows exploration drilling in 2016 aimed at upgrading inferred resources to the measured and indicated categories
Due to depletion from production, the total proven and probable reserves declined 8%, to 171,000 ounces of gold grading 4.69 g/t of gold contained in 1.1 million tonnes, according to a March 30 release.
The inferred resources at the mine are estimated at 499,000 ounces grading 6.37 g/t of gold contained in 2.4 million tonnes.
Jaguar said the 2017 drilling campaign is focused on raising the new measured and indicated resources to proven and probable reserves status.
