Report: Apple offers $50 refund for iPhone battery replacement in 2017

Apple Inc. is refunding $50 to iPhone owners who paid for an out-of-warranty battery replacement for the iPhone 6 or an older model in 2017, The Wall Street Journal reported May 23.

The refund will reduce the price of the battery replacement to $29 from $79 between Jan. 1, 2017, and Dec. 28, 2017. The tech giant will email eligible customers over the next two months about how to obtain the refund.

In April, Apple offered to replace batteries for MacBook Pro models affected by a component failure.
