Carrefour SA's Brazilian arm said Oct. 9 that it is transferring management of its 17 supermarkets in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais to local operator Grupo Super Nosso.
In a securities filing, the company said the Carrefour Bairro sites would be rebranded as Super Nosso outlets within a year. Both companies will provide financial support to update and reopen the stores and train staff.
Carrefour said the partnership will help the stores, which are in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan area and will remain owned by the French company, cater to local preferences.
Super Nosso is the 17th-largest grocery store operator in Brazil.
