Nuclear update: River Bend, Nine Mile Point reactors ramp up

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability rose early March 21 to 87.51%, up from 86.69% on March 20 and still above the 81.62% reported on the same day last year.

Giving a lift to total output was increased production at Exelon Corp.'s recently restarted Nine Mile Point 1 in New York. The unit was at full power early March 21, rising from just 3% on March 20.

In addition, Entergy Corp.'s River Bend 1 in Louisiana was at 100% power early March 21, climbing from 77% on March 20.

As of early March 21, a total of 12 nuclear power reactors remain offline.
