Euglena Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, amounted to 60 Japanese sen per share, an increase from 11 sen per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥49.4 million, a gain from ¥8.8 million in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 4.3% from 1.3% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue climbed 65.9% year over year to ¥1.16 billion from ¥700.0 million, and total operating expenses rose 67.2% on an annual basis to ¥1.10 billion from ¥659.0 million.
Reported net income grew on an annual basis to ¥53.6 million, or 65 sen per share, from ¥6.9 million, or 9 sen per share.
As of Feb. 13, US$1 was equivalent to ¥118.68.
