Yakult Honsha Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31 came to ¥23.96 per share, a decline from ¥25.13 per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥3.96 billion, a decline from ¥4.15 billion in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin fell to 4.5% from 4.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew on an annual basis to ¥88.07 billion from ¥86.17 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to ¥82.66 billion from ¥79.59 billion.
Reported net income declined 12.4% on an annual basis to ¥3.50 billion, or ¥21.19 per share, from ¥4.00 billion, or ¥24.19 per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥139.35 per share, compared to EPS of ¥120.36 in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥23.04 billion, a gain from ¥20.18 billion in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue grew from the prior-year period to ¥367.98 billion from ¥350.32 billion, and total operating expenses increased on an annual basis to ¥333.08 billion from ¥318.30 billion.
The company said reported net income increased on an annual basis to ¥25.06 billion, or ¥151.58 per share, in the full year, from ¥22.54 billion, or ¥134.43 per share.
