Synovus' local brands to take parent name

Synovus Financial Corp.'s 28 locally branded divisions will take on the parent's name by 2018, Chairman and CEO Kessel Stelling wrote in the company's 2016 annual report.

The divisions are Alabama's CB&T Bank of East Alabama, Community Bank & Trust Southeast Alabama, Bank of Tuscaloosa, Sterling Bank, First Commercial Bank of Huntsville, First Commercial Bank and First National Bank of Jasper; Florida's Tallahassee State Bank, Coastal Bank & Trust of FL, First Coast Community Bank, Synovus Bank and Synovus Bank of Jacksonville; Georgia's Columbus Bank and Trust Co., Commercial Bank, Commercial Bank & Trust Co. Troup County, SB&T Bank, Coastal Bank of Georgia, First State Bank & Trust Co. of Valdosta, First Community Bank of Tifton, CB&T Bank of Middle Georgia, Sea Island Bank, Citizens First Bank, AFB&T, Bank of North Georgia and Georgia Bank & Trust; South Carolina's National Bank of South Carolina; and Tennessee's Bank of Nashville and Cohutta Banking Co.

The consolidation aims to reduce confusion and increase awareness of Columbus, Ga.-based Synovus' broader capabilities.

Stelling further noted that T. Michael Goodrich will retire from the board at the April 20 annual meeting.
